Feature 10 / 17
Read logs where they live
Read log entries straight from where they are stored, filter them by order, correlation ID, time and severity, and inspect them in a grid, with no ingestion pipeline.

The problem
When the database says an order did not ship, how do you see what the services logged about it?
Logs sit in files and cloud logging while the business record sits in a database. Lining them up means exporting, searching and copying timestamps, or copying the logs into yet another store just to look at them.
A clearer workflow
Point at the source
Choose a log collection served through OpenVaultDB, or an allowed Cloud Logging view. Nothing is copied or ingested. Serving logs is separate from OVDB (OpenVaultDB) session storage, which is DataTug’s own working context.
Filter to the case
Narrow by order ID, correlation ID, time range and severity. For log files, include untimed or malformed entries when you need them.
Inspect the evidence
Sort and select entries in a grid, and read the original raw entry beside its parsed fields.
Illustrative workflow
Find the log entries for one order
Starting question
What did the shipping services log about order 11045?
Steps to follow
- Open the log viewer on the shipping log stream and enter correlation-11045, the correlation ID of the order’s shipping request.
- Keep all severities and narrow the time range to the shipping attempt, so warnings and errors around it stay in view.
- Select the blocked attempt and read its original raw entry beside the order record.
What this shows
The log viewer works today with a local OpenVaultDB source and in an allowlisted Cloud Logging pilot. The hosted demo cannot read the shipping logs yet, and correlation IDs are still being added to every shipping log line, so this is the intended workflow, not a live demo.
Open DataTugWhat changes
Log evidence sits next to the record it explains, read from its source, without a new pipeline to maintain.

In the demo story
Sarah filters the shipping log by correlation-11045 and sees the attempt blocked on an expired route, read straight from the log stream.
